At the Primatial Saint Jean de Lyon, the vocals are a real living heritage that dates back to the eighth century to control boys. The musical potential of these 300 choristers is one of the richest in France. The mixed choir (adults), Mastery (boys’ choir) and Schola (choir girls) mission is to live religious music in the context of particular offices. Jean-François Duchamp ensures the balance of the musical 30 years as Kapellmeister. SCHOLA is the newest choir, founded in 1990. It covers an eclectic repertoire in the styles and ages, performing great classical works of sacred music as The Passion According to St. Matthew (chorus II) by Bach, Haydn’s Vespers but Britten Ceremony of Carols, the Litany to the Black Madonna of Poulenc, the mirror Jesus Caplet Mass dedicated to Sainte Anne de Ropartz Paulus Oratorio by Mendelssohn with two other choirs Primatiale or a Magnificat, creating Loïc Mallié, owner of the Grand Organ of the Trinity.

On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the birth of Pergolesi, I hope that the younger generations of the Schola of the Primatial Lyon discover his Stabat Mater, but also the Hasse Miserere, two pieces composed for a choir of girls residents in an orphanage in Venice. are parts that I have chosen to bring this CD were indeed written in Venice, symbol usually good life and lightness, yet they follow the path of pain and the severity of their themes lined the cover details of the famous Pieta by Michelangelo. These three artistic, musical or architectural features of the purity of Mary or the sensitivity of the voice Schola girls are to me an invitation to the paradoxical beauty and grandeur of this suffering.
