Rally Liepaja - Ventspils, rally winter Kurland
Since Latvia has won the right to join the best Auto Sport rallies, it is intensive work for organizers of the European Championship rallies (ERC) to propose a motor racing event every month except for June and July with two races cars per month. In 2013 thirteen rallys are organized.
The Rally Liepaja - Ventspils - is the second step in the European Championship Rally (ERC) of 2013 and also the second step of Rally Championship Sport in Latvia.

Events
The Rally Liepaja-Ventspils begins with a celebration.
The first special stages 1 February in Liepāja.
The second day of the rally moves slowly northward, to be stopped at the periphery of Ventspils.
The last day of the rally will be played in Ventspils district, which will also host the ceremony awards.

The European Rally Championship (ERC)
European Championship rally motorsport (ERC) will know significant changes in 2013 as a result of an agreement between the World Council of the Sport Automobile (FIA) and Eurosport Events.
the International Automobile Federation (FIA) agreed Eurosport Events to make the Championships the next 10 years. Eurosport Events has previously successfully created the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC), which is considered one of the most remarkable challenge organized in the World Rally Championship.

Jean-Pierre Nicolas, French Rally Driver named in May 2012 IRC Manager by Eurosport Events, the promoter of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge invites all drivers and sportsmen to come in Latvia. Jean-Pierre Nicolas has nearly 50 years of experience in rallying. He has won five World Championship rallys and has also competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice.
Rally French driver Jean-Pierre Nicolas, was born in Marseille January 22, 1945. In 1978 he was vice-champion of WRC drivers.
From 1973 to 1984, he participated in the World Rally Championship and ended his racing career on a Peugeot 205 Turbo16.
Only driver to have won three times the Morocco Rally and three rounds of the WRC African Morocco, Kenya and Coast Ivory with Hannu Mikkola.
In 1978 in Monte Carlo, he also won the famous rally car, driving a Porsche 911. It took the development of the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 with Jean Todt. He was also the head of the World Rally Championship with Peugeot and directed the FIA to host the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Thirteen races for the new version of Championships
The season will run from January to November, with thirteen rounds seven asphalt, four on earth and finally two on snow. The ERC Championships, which is born of the merger of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and the old European Rally Championship, does not require participants to make a minimum of heat. In the new sporting rules approved by the FIA, the drivers will be classified according to their best eight results of the season.
But the specificity is that the four best performances of the first seven rallys will be retained, then the top four of the last six races of the season. Moreover, as in the WRC championship, there will be a special qualification to determine the starting order on the sleeves ’earth’.

Finland is the most successful country in the history of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. The drivers of the Nordic nation have a total of 14 wins in six seasons of the IRC. Alone Juho Hänninen (2010 champion) has 11 victories. The other three are those of Anton Alen, Jarkko Miettinen and Mikko Hirvonen with each success. Although qu’Hänninen has won almost all his success with ŠKODA, his first in Russia during the 2009 season, was driving a Peugeot 207 Super 2000.
